We are Birch and Sparrow – from 2021 to 2023 we sold or got rid of most of our possessions, bought some land in the Ozarks, built a $15k house, and are currently working to develop our property, our lives, and our business.

We believe in personal responsibility and sensible self-reliance in a world gone mad.

Freedom.

That’s what this is all about.

We are seeking a life of freedom.

Freedom from “the system”. Freedom from “the man”.

But why?

Well, because we were just like everyone else for the first two years of our marriage.

We were probably just like you.

Everything about our life was unsustainable.

We were paying to live in an apartment we would never own.

We had a dead-end job that required 2 hours of commuting daily.

We were growing our family, but never got to spend any time together at the end of the day.

Our out-of-control-busy lifestyle made all the things we wanted in life impossible.

Then it all came crashing down in the winter of 2021.

Things were bad and we knew we had to make a change.

In pursuit of that change, we’ve tried a lot of different routes.

We’ve taken many jobs, started and stopped many business ideas, and gone forward two steps only to run back to safety more times than we can count.

But the guiding mission never changed.

We want to live our lives according to our conscience, before God, raise our children, and have the ability to choose what to do with our time.

We want to be healthy – spiritually, physically, emotionally, financially.

And these days, it seems like that health and vitality can only be achieved by doing the opposite of whatever society and culture tell us to do.

So that’s what we’re doing.

And along the way, we plan to document our journey to making it all work.
